The Alluring Ninja Girl: Mai Shiranui!
TLDR: This model had a crazy, broken base, but I had some crazy ideas to fix it lol
In Detail:
First things first, this was the biggest model I have ever printed and painted!
So I printed this model a few months ago, but never came around to prepping it and painting it until now! In the middle of prepping this model I noticed a giant gap between the parts (since I had to print the base in two separate parts). I filled the gap with putty and tried my very best to make it smooth and look natural; however, it just did not look pretty, in my opinion. So, I decided to cover up the crazy look with Kintsugi! It is a Japanese art form of repairing broken parts with lacquer and gold dust. This art form emphasizes the beauty of imperfections in something rather than ignoring them and casting them away. I didn't have laquer, but I did have gold dust and some tacky glue to mimic Kintsugi. It was my first time, but I really tried my best.
Now for the top of the base, the putty didn't look like natural rock (the origial 3D renders can be found in my shop, just look up Mai), so I decided to take the risk making a fake landscape with miniature flowers, and honestly, I think it turned out amazing! I got inspired by looking up Japanese landscapes on Google, and I saw beautiful photos of these flower fields in Japan.
Now for her Fan, I was inspired by the design of Mai's fan in Street Fighter 6! I do play a little bit of Street Fighter 6 lol. The fan details were amazing, and I really tried my best to make the sakura flower designs look pretty but not powerfully colorful to the point where there is too much focus away from her face.
In conclusion, this was such a challenge, and it really made me open up my adaptive and creative side. I love how this model turned out, and it took me such a long time to prep and paint this model, but when I finally put the model together...I was so relieved and simply amazed by how great this turned out!
Model is printed in 1:4 Scale
MODEL COMES WITH MAGNETS (except for their ponytail since I don't have magnets that are strong and small enough to fit...sorry)
